OC Bjelašnica and Igman

Igman and Bjelasnica are real paradise for rest and recreation. These mountains are a favorite among hikers, on whose slopes the pleasure can find all of those who love nature, hunting and mountaineering. All the area of ​​Igman and lower areas of Bjelašnica are covered with dense forest, so there are conditions for a very rich fauna. In this area live: deer, rabbits, squirrels, bear, wolf, fox, grouse, eagle, etc.

Significant natural values ​​of Igman and Bjelasnica are:

1. "Mrazište" at the site of the Great Field, Little Field and Radove with specific warmer characteristics

2. Unique Forest reserves in the area, and Babin Dol Straight Vale, are invaluable in the forest, floristic, faunistic and vegetation studies,

3. Klokovača cave, located on the northeastern slopes of Bjelasnica, below Lisičija Glava. The path to the cave is marked by the Great Fields towards Babin Dol. This cave was open on 1894 as seen in the stone inscriptions side chambers,

4. Rare fauna, relict vole on Bjelasnica, today can just be found on Trebevic.

Bjelašnica with Igman was and still is a popular excursion for people of Sarajevo, especially in winter. In the XIV Winter Olympic Games, which partly took place in this area, trails wew built for downhill, slalom, giant slalom, biathlon trails, jumps, so that conditions are created for exceptional winter recreation.
