City hall gets back its authentic decorative elements

1008

The same Hungarian company from Pécs, Zsolnay Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt, produced the decorative façade elements needed for the construction of City hall in Sarajevo in the period 1892-1894.

The production included part of decorative elements of faience (ceramic enamelled panels), which were destroyed during the destruction of City hall, while the remainder of the conserved and partially damaged elements was repaired and restored.

Thanks to Zsolnay Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt, MVM Ovit company from Budapest, and Polimac Company Ltd. from Sarajevo, City hall regained the authentic decorative elements that made this structure unique for more than a century.

Mayor Behmen invited Hungary to participate in the artistic sense in the opening of City hall in 2014., when the capital city of B&H will be named The Bridge of Cultures.
